The secrets of the Lot valley
The Lot Valley is still a secret to many people. It does not have the same notoriety as Provence, Dordogne or Loire Valley, but that is part of its mystery, the road less travelled.
The Lot is the longest river in the southwest of France originating from the Cévennes near Mont-Lozère and flowing 480 kilometers to become a tributary of the Garonne. The legendary Cahors Malbec (black grape) vineyards tumble along the banks watched over by medieval castles and villages sitting on top of the hills. |
The region is renowned for its gastronomy of black truffles, foie gras and artisanal nut cakes.
Restaurants throughout the department offer locally sourced meat and vegetables. You can dine in Michelin-starred restaurants or enjoy a homecooked mothers recipe, with plenty to choose from between the two. If you are a thrill seeker there are plenty of tours here for your adventures: Micro Lites, Climbing / Abseiling, Quad, Canoeing too many to mention. |
So if you are looking for a holiday that ticks the boxes for everyone, the Lot Valley should be your next destination.
